Tecnet EDI: Fiscal conformity at any reach.

Tecnet EDI is an advanced platform, facilitating the electronic data exchange, meant to optimize the distribution chain management and other business processes, offering automated and integrated communication solutions.

The advantages of EDI communication

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the concept of communicating information electronically. The two classic examples of such information are purchase orders and invoices. There are clear technical standards for EDI to facilitate parties trading such instruments without having to make special arrangements.

  • Customers benefit from faster payment and advantageous payment terms;
  • Suppliers benefit from optimized cash flow.
  • Personnel costs required for processing documents sent in physical format are reduced by up to 50%, according to statistics provided by the GS1 Cost Savings Report studies on the FMCG sector.

  • Reduce transaction time. While the physical process can take up to a week, with electronic invoices everything happens instantly (if physical transactions can take up to 6 days, the EDI system reduces the duration to at most one hour).
  • Fully automated integration into ERP (order processing, goods receipt, reconciliations, etc).

  • Communication through EDI benefits from a high level of security, similar to interbank transactions.
  • The process of legally archiving files transacted through EDI increases the level of security and benefits from redundancy, unlike documents transmitted on physical media.

  • Minimize potential human errors that could occur and cause discrepancies between documents.

  • Eliminating manual file processing, as well as manual data entry and re-entry, will contribute to the optimization of the entire process.

  • Promptness and accuracy in document processing, thus significantly reducing the percentage of canceled orders.

  • Accurate information translates into the optimization of the entire supply chain.

  • Reducing order processing and delivery times, thereby contributing to the optimization of merchandise inventories.

  • Improved real-time visibility into transactions. This visibility, in turn, allows for more efficient decision-making and response times to changes in a dynamic market.

  • Collaborate in a common language with your business partner. Align your processes and streamline your communication.

  • Collaborative alignment of data between partners:

  • V.M.I. (Vendor Managed Inventory).

  • C.R.P. (Continuous Replenishment Process).

  • B.I. (Business Intelligence)

  • CPRF (Collaborative Planning Replenishment and Forecasting). Environmental responsibility and sustainability, replacing physical support with electronic alternatives.

What does the acronym EDI stand for?

Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) is the concept of communicating information electronically. The two classic examples of such information are purchase orders and invoices. There are clear technical standards for EDI to facilitate parties trading such instruments without having to make special arrangements.

EDI has existed since at least the early 1970s, and there are many EDI standards (including X12, EDIFACT, ODETTE, etc.), some of which address the needs of specific industries or regions. It also specifically refers to a class of standards. In 1996, the National Institute of Standards and Technology defined electronic data interchange as "the exchange of information between computers by means of strictly defined messages that represent other than monetary instruments."

EDI involves a series of messages between two parties, as data originators or recipients. Data in standardized formats, representing documents, can be transmitted from initiator to recipient via telecommunications or physically transported on electronic storage media.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology distinguished only electronic communication or data exchange, stating that "in EDI, the usual processing of received messages is done only through the computer. Human intervention in processing a received message is intended only for error conditions, quality review. For example, the transmission of binary or textual data does not constitute EDI as defined in this concept, unless the data is treated as one or more data elements of an EDI message and is not normally intended for human interpretation as part of online data processing."

In summary, EDI can be defined as the transfer of structured data, according to agreed message standards, from one computer system to another without human intervention.
